When a 9-11 survivor living in Argentina is tempted to move back to New York, hestruggles to face his past, live up to his father’s legacy, and teach life lessons to his 8-year-old son.
During their trip, David English and his son Benji share adventures in New York and in David’s hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, as they try on what life might be like for them back in the States. Visits to Manhattan, Costco, a trampoline park, Chuck E. Cheese, a luxury apartment building, Nashville’s honky tonks, and a children’s birthday party are initially thrilling. But father and son quickly realize that not everything that glitters is gold and that choosing where to live is as difficult as it is complex.
Subtly nudged by his 80-year-old mother, David eventually delves into his deceased father’s photographs, home movies, and telephone recordings to revisit his traumatic past and come to terms with his decision to abandon his friends, family, and country after 9-11.
